David Van Valkenburgh is currently employed as the Consumer Division Materials Manager for Cummins Power Generation headquartered in Fridley, MN. David’s responsibilities are strategic materials and operations planning and supplier performance.
Mr. Van Valkenburgh is recognized as an industry expert and is a frequently invited presenter for national supply chain conferences. Currently David serves as Education Exam Writer and Past National Chair for Association Management Forum for the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and currently serves as President – Elect and Instructor for the Twin Cities Chapter of APICS.

David holds a B/S in manufacturing engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology. He has extensive experience in manufacturing, purchasing, supply chain management, production and inventory control. He has recently received the Six Sigma Green Belt certification and has been a long time active board member of APICS and ISM during his professional career. David is certified at the Fellow Level in Production and Inventory Management and is a Certified Supply Chain Professional by APICS and a Certified Purchasing Manager from the Institute for Supply Management. He also has numerous published articles and is currently working on publishing his first book on effective advanced global supply chains.

David also is a Sr. Instructor for APICS and ISM and teaches all CPIM, CSCP and CPM certification classes and numerous supply chain management workshops and seminars.


Lyle Henning, CIRM

Lyle Henning is a Manager/Consultant in the Manufacturing and Distribution group of LarsonAllen, a CPA, Consulting & Advisory firm. Lyle has spent the past 5 years performing research tax credit studies for a wide variety of clients including precision metal manufacturing, plastic injection molding, food production, software development, medical device manufacturers, OEM’s, chemical manufacturers, and printing firms.
Prior to becoming involved in Research and Development Tax Credit projects, Lyle spent over 15 years working with manufacturing firms in various consulting projects including continuous improvement, Quick Response Manufacturing, long-range facility planning, warehouse space planning and office/manufacturing process analysis. He continues to consult in these areas in addition to his R&D work. He also has an active leadership role in the internal Continuous Improvement team at LarsonAllen.

Lyle has an MBA in business administration from the University of St. Thomas and a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of Minnesota. He earned his CIRM certification in 2004.


Scott Heilman

Scott has been a member of APICS since 1993 and has volunteered on the seminar committee since 2001. Currently, he is employed at Mate Precision Tooling as a Materials Planner II. In addition, Scott has worked in planning for Osmonics, Kurt Manufacturing, Carl Zeiss IMT, and Cummins Power Generation.

Scott grew up in Surrey, North Dakota, a small town near Minot. He graduated from DeVry University in 1995 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Operations Management. He is currently pursuing CPIM certification and has taken several classes working toward his MBA.

Scott has a passion for fishing on the North Dakota and Minnesota lakes. In addition, he has been an independent underclassmen basketball official and baseball umpire for the last four years.


Michael Tapper

Mike Tapper joined PSC Group, LLC in 1999 to open and operate PSC’s first branch location (outside Chicago) in Minneapolis/Saint Paul Minnesota. As Vice President of Minnesota Operations he provides overall leadership and day-to-day management of PSC’s Minnesota branch office. With his 27 years of information technology experience and 16 years in information technology consulting, he has brought a reputation for delivering high integrity services and successful client relationship management to clients in Minnesota and throughout the midwest.

Previously, as a Managing Principal with New Resources Corporation, Mr. Tapper was responsible for the startup and growth of the New Resources Minnesota branch office, which was acquired by PSC Group, LLC in December 2001. In his 7 years with New Resources Corporation, he held positions of increasing responsibility, including Consulting Department Manager and National Director of Consulting. Prior to New Resources, he held an Information Technology Director position with MTI Vacations of Oak Brook, IL and also worked for GE Fleet Services and Fansteel Metals in the Chicago area. He began his Information Technology career with 5 years of service in the United States Navy assigned to serve on the U.S.S. Vulcan in Virginia and with the Naval Data Automation Facility in Illinois.

Mr. Tapper received his bachelors degree in computer information systems from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. He is pursuing graduate studies through the Keller Graduate School of Management. Additionally, he is an active member of the Twin Cities APICS Chapter Programs Committee.


Lisa Koehler

Lisa Koehler is currently an Operations Manager for Allianz of America. She has 6+ years of marketing and management experience with two Fortune 500 companies operating in the financial services industry. Prior to her marketing and communications with Allianz and US Bank, Lisa has spent 2+ years with AmeriSuites as a Sales and Marketing Manager. While working in the financial and hospitality industries Lisa has spearheaded the development and implementation of a wide variety of marketing campaigns some being non-traditional revenue streams. Not only does she have experience in marketing, training and communication but also in advertising, management, sales, and development.

Lisa holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master's degree in organizational leadership from Bethel University. Currently, she is a Marketing and Communications Chair involved with a branding project and website re-design for a non-profit organization.

Don has been involved with APICS since 1983. He has held this board position for the past 13 years. Prior to this position, he was Vice President of Seminars and a member of the seminar committee for 3 years. Don has extensive experience working with ERP Systems in the areas of implementation consulting and customer support. Don currently owns two offices that offer tax preparation, accounting and financial planning services. Don holds a BA in economics from St John’s University and a BS in accounting from Mankato State University.

Jim Ogren has been a member of the Twin Cities Chapter since 1975.  He earned his CFPIM certification in 1982, his CIRM certification in 1998, his CSCP certification in 2007, and holds a bachelors degree in Business Administration.  He has served as president of the APICS Twin Cities Chapter, and as a CPIM certification exam item writer.

Jim has earned a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt from the American Society for Quality (ASQ), and has served as a reviewer for ASQ published materials.  He is a member of ASQ and the Institute for Supply Management (ISM).

Jim has been involved in manufacturing for over 30 years, as a practitioner and as a consultant. His experience includes materials management, cost accounting, and systems implementation, along with executive level manufacturing management.

Stephen Patten has been an APICS member since 2001 and received his CPIM certification in 2002. He has recently taken over the Business Manager responsibilities with the Reynolds Food Packaging thermoforming operations in Rogers, MN. This responsibility would include reporting and providing commentary related to this location’s EBIT. The APICS certification training has prepared me how to analyze the flow of activities throughout the plant and how to make process improvements. The Alcoa Business System (ABS) objective is to make continuous improvements in processes to provide the best quality product on a timely basis and at the least cost.

Stephen has a Bachelors degree in International Business from Moorhead State University.

Stephen’s wife is from Siegen, Germany. Currently, Stephen and his son are preparing for their black belt screening with National Karate.

Biography Information:

Jolyn's Materials Management career has focused in the area of procurement. As both a Buyer/Planner and Commodity Manager, experience at both the strategic and tactical levels has led to several unique opportunities for involvement in various areas of materials management. These have included participation on ISO 9000 and TL 9000 certification teams, SAP System Implementation and Training Teams, New Product Development Teams and Leadership in Supply Chain Management/Development Activities. Jolyn holds a strong interest in the principles of Continuous Improvement. Her current position with Medtronic is as Commodity Manager in the Supply Management function. Jolyn is an CPIM Certification Review Instructor and the President of the Twin Cities APICS Chapter.


Dory Reddan

Dory joined the APICS family in 1979 after a career in education. This part-time position gradually progressed to full-time, as the chapter membership grew and services expanded in the areas of technology, certification programs, and seminars. Dory manages the chapter office, responds to callers, maintains member records, handles event registrations, and assists the board of directors with special emphasis in the areas of education programs and seminars. Dory graduated from Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa with a BA degree in psychology and education.

Natalie joined the Twin Cities Chapter of APICS in April of 1999 to assist long-time Administrator, Dory Reddan. Some of Natalie's duties include the administration of the In-House Education Program, website development and maintenance, newsletter layout, and membership programs. In addition to supporting the Board of Directors, she also attends the Educational Policy Committee meetings. Prior to joining APICS, Natalie held various positions over 16 years at TSI Incorporated in Shoreview, MN. In her latest position as Manager of Purchasing and Administration, Natalie was responsible for purchasing, customer service, inventory, and administrative support for the Process Instruments Division. Natalie joined APICS in 1994 and received her CPIM certification in May of 1996.
